RAGF-1™ is a standardized water extract of Anemarrhena asphodeloides (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae), a botanical with compelling evidence of growth hormone-like bioactivity. In a peer-reviewed study, researchers screened over 100 herbal extracts and found that Rhizoma Anemarrhenae activated the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)–signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (STAT5) pathway — the same intracellular signaling cascade stimulated by growth hormone. This activation was confirmed in multiple cell types and was shown to be blocked when co-treated with a growth hormone receptor antagonist, indicating specific receptor-mediated effects.

Importantly, while mimicking growth hormone signaling, the extract did not stimulate growth of melanoma cancer cells, highlighting a key distinction between RAGF-1™ and direct hormone therapies.

The study also demonstrated that this botanical extract significantly increased tibial growth plate thickness and boosted insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels in serum and tissues — two markers strongly associated with anabolic growth processes.
