HyperMax XT – Bigger, Badder, and Better in 2016!

Performax Labs has been hinting for over a week now that they’ll be revamping their much-beloved pre workout, HyperMax XT, and now that it’s here, we can definitely say that it’s for the better – especially if you want more energy!

In mid-2015, they removed AMP Citrate and replaced it with a productive new stimulant… and now in mid 2016, they’ve upped the ante and made it even stronger!

However, that’s not all the formulators at Performax Labs did. There’s a few other revisions to this well-balanced pre workout. The formula has finally been revealed and we’ve got a full breakdown ahead for you.

In short, this is an impressive formula even for the typically high-energy HyperMax line. On top of a potent new stimulant blend, users are going to get more pumps than they’d expect for a high-stim pre workout, so this one could really turn some heads. It’s a very in-your-face supplement – if you need it to hit fast and hard, you need HyperMax XT.

Our HyperMax XT Review

Mike and CJ and the clan at FTA Gym have been ransacking this bottle, and it’s been everyone’s favorite! As a true “one-scoop wonder”, CJ likes the in-your-face energy mix and Mike is all about the mood/euphoria boost:

HyperMax XT Ingredients

Performax has made use of a semi-open label with the newest version of HyperMax XT. All of the muscle-builders and pump enhancers are transparently dosed, but the “Energy & Focus” blend is kept secret. While we’d love for it to be 100% open, Performax has at least opted to list the caffeine content (325mg), which we’re always thankful for.

Hang on boys and girls, this label is going to pack a wallop!
HyperMAx XT Supp Facts
Performance & Endurance
Beta Alanine Orotate (3,000mg)

What better way to start a pre workout than with a new spin on the all-time endurance booster, beta alanine. Most often you’ll see just regular beta alanine on a supplement panel, but Performax Labs has opted to include beta alanine orotate instead. This is trademarked as Beta-O. You may be wondering why this choice?

Orotate, which comes from orotic acid, is actually a carnosine precursor in the body – just like beta alanine – so it will further help increase muscle carnosine concentrations.[1] Remember, carnosine is a powerful intracellular buffer that helps shuttle lactic acid away from skeletal muscles, thereby increasing your endurance.[2,3]

Beta alanine also helps form carnosine in the body once it’s ingested and combines with histidine. Ultimately, this helps reduce fatigue and support muscle growth.[4,5]

A synergistic ingredient

These two ingredient components, with their similar effects, create a synergistic combo. According to Performax, since beta alanine is also used in the body for protein synthesis and cellular repair, there’s often less available than we’d think for actual carnosine production.

The orotic acid can pick up the slack in those situations, and get you to carnosine saturation much quicker — no more waiting four weeks to get your beta alanine stores full!

Will this provide more or less tingles than straight beta alanine??

We’ve never tried this ingredient, and aren’t sure how much of the tingles (paresthesia) you’ll get from it. Given that beta alanine has a molecular weight of 89.09g/mol and orotic acid has a molecular weight of 156.1 g/mol. Since there’s a 3:1 ratio of these two, you’ll have roughly 63% beta alanine, meaning 1.893g beta alanine total in a serving.

That’s typically enough to feel some tingles, but not an insane amount.

L-Ornithine L-Aspartate (1,000mg)

Often seen as LOLA, L-Ornithine L-Aspartate is the stable salt of two natural non essential amino acids: L-Ornithine and L-Aspartic acid. Both of these amino acids play a key role in ammonia detoxification in the body.[6] Excess ammonia leads to premature fatigue, tissue damage, and in worst case scenarios, organ complications.[6]

During intense exercise, ammonia levels can build up in the muscle leading to decreased performance. However, supplementing with LOLA prior to exercise has been shown to improve sprint performance and increase endurance capacity.[7,8]

Pumps & Vascularity
L-Citrulline (4,000mg)

Getting increased vascularity and bigger pumps all boils down to one thing, increased nitric oxide (N.O.) production. Basically, More N.O. = MORE PUMPS! Lots of ingredients are said to boost levels of N.O. in the body, but few do it as well as L-Citrulline.

This non-essential amino acid has been proven to be more effective, and more bioavailable, than L-Arginine.[9,10] Increased NO levels mean more blood flow getting to your muscles, which aside from pumps, also supplies fresh nutrients to your working muscles and helping remove metabolic waste. This ultimately helps enhance endurance as well.

To get these effects, you want 3-4g of pure L-Citrulline, and HyperMax XT gives us the upper end of that range. On its own this would provide plenty of pumps, but we’ve still got two more pump enhancers to go!

Glycerol Powder 65% (2,000mg)

Pumps come in two flavors, nitric oxide based pumps, like Citrulline, and water-based pumps, given by ingredients like Glycerol. The use of glycerol in pump formulas is nothing new, but previously companies used the cheaper glycerol monostearate with is 25% glycerol and 75% saturated fat.

However, the industry has shifted to using the much higher quality 65% glycerol powder, which gives you much more glycerol on a per gram basis. In the body, glycerol acts like a sponge in your muscles which helps to draw in additional water. This is where the “water-based” pumps aspect of things comes into play.

An additional benefit of the increased water uptake is a condition konwn as “hyper-hydration.”[11,12] Basically, your muscles hold onto extra water which increases your stamina and endurance during intense bouts of exercise.

Agmatine Sulfate (1,000mg)

The last piece in our pump powerhouse trifecta comes in the form of a pump-extender, Agmatine Sulfate. This ingredient prolongs, or extends, arginine’s life in the body, by inhibiting the enzyme arginase, which is responsible for breaking down arginine.[13] When used alongside a N.O. booster like Citrulline, you’ll notice denser, longer lasting pumps as well as better endurance, improved circulation, and increased vasodilation.

Typically, companies use the standard dose of 500mg, which is “OK” and will help get some decent pumps, but to really see this ingredient shine, you’ll want 1,000mg, which is precisely what you get here!

Energy & Focus (1,250mg)

Tyrosine supplements are frequently used for their ability to enhance focus during workouts. This non-essential amino acid increases the production of two crucial neurotransmitters in the body, noradrenaline and dopamine.

Higher levels of these two neurotransmitters improve overall mood and focus, while also helping reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety.[14,15]

B-Phenylethylamine HCL

Here’s an ingredient many know and love from Performax’s high-powered fat burner OxyMax XT. Phenylethylamine (PEA) is one of the all-time “feel good ingredients.” PEA causes a potent, albeit brief release of catecholamines (dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline), which induce a slight state of euphoria.[16]

An in-your-face stimulant blend

After some time with this supplement, we’ve determined that this is the ingredient that makes HyperMax XT so “in your face” right from the start. Some of the other stimulants take a touch of time to warm up, but you’ll feel this one fast. After it’s gone, the other stims have already kicked in. So if you need a wake-up call, and like it heavy and hard-hitting right from the go, HyperMax XT is where it’s at.

Caffeine Anhydrous (325mg)

The lone component of the Energy & Focus blend that is transparently dosed, caffeine weighs in at a hefty 325mg per scoop. On its own, this would be plenty enough energy to get your engine revving during a workout, but when paired alongside the other stimulants you’re going to be in for one SERIOUS rush during your workouts.

Fair warning, stim sensitive users out there will probably want to start with ⅓-½ scoop just until you see how your body handles it.

Eria Jarensis

Often extracted for its N-phenethyldimethylamine content, this is one of the more talked about stimulants over the past year or so since it’s inclusion in pre workouts supplements. It was in the previous version of HyperMax XT as well, but not as much was used.

Basically, this is going to have the highest amount of Eria Jarensis you’ve encountered with a Performax Labs product, and will probably be the make-it-or-break-it ingredient in HyperMax XT, and we think it’s going to make it in a big way. Expect that same euphoric feeling you got from its predecessor, but even more!

Hordenine HCL

Hordenine is a plant extract found alongside synephrine in bitter orange that acts as a natural stimulant. Research is on the light side, but may indicate that hordenine exhibits similar effects as that of noradrenaline.[17]

Hordenine acts as an MAO (Monoamine Oxidase) inhibitor.[18] This has the added bonus effect of helping keep PEA “active” longer in the body, helping to further that “feel good” sensation we described earlier. This is extremely important to have with the two PEA-based ingredients above, and shows Performax put some great thought into this formula.

Citrus Aurantium Extract

Citrus aurantium, a.k.a. bitter orange, is a safe, and well-researched, substitute for the now banned ephedra.[19,20] You’ll also hear this called synephrine It’s also sometimes referred to as synephrine, and has a chemical structure similar to ephedra.

Citrus Aurantium stimulates the Beta-2 and Beta-3 receptors in your body,[21,22] which triggers the release of triglycerides (lipolysis) into the bloodstream. This enables you to “burn fat as fuel.” However, we’re not entirely entirely sure what standardization they are using. It might be synephrine, but we can’t be sure.

Rauwolfia Vomitoria Extract

Often seen in fat burners, like OxyMax XT, Rauwolfia vomitoria is a plant species in the genus Rauwolfia traditionally used in African medicine as a treatment for possible mental disorders due to its mood-enhancing abilities!

If that sounds more than a little off-putting, don’t worry as research shows that it aids in decreasing body weight.[23] Another study showed it decreased pain sensitivity and possibly treat certain mental diseases.[24]

We’re not sure how much of this ingredient are in there, but it’s usually a very small dose, since larger doses can get quite aggressive. We’ll be starting at a half scoop to assess everything given the high stimulant content anyway.

Absorption Enhancement
Black Pepper Extract (5mg)

Given the number of potent actives in the new HyperMax XT, you’re going to need a little assistance to ensure your body properly absorbs all of the key ingredients. Black pepper extract improves the bioavailability and absorption of ingredients by inhibiting their premature breakdown in the body. This means you get the most bang for your buck with each scoop of HyperMax XT and nothing goes to waste.

Flavors Available

As soon as HyperMax XT hits the store shelves, users will be able to select from one of two flavors: Blue Razz and Watermelon.
