Ingredient Spotlight: NeuroPEA™

We all know that caffeine is the foundational stimulant upon which all great stim-based pre workout supplements are engineered, including HyperMax-3D.

What really separates “solid” pre workout supplements from the truly elite pre workouts are what other ingredients that include alongside caffeine to take energy, focus, pumps and performance to the MAX!

Today we highlight once such an ingredient included in HyperMax-3D (as well as our best-selling fat burner OxyMax): NeuroPEA™.

What is NeuroPEA?

Phenylethylamine (PEA) is a naturally occurring monoamine in the brain that functions as a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant and neurotransmitter.

In addition to being produced endogenously, PEA can also be found in several foods common to the diet, including:

  • Cocoa/chocolate
  • Eggs
  • Wine
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Blue green algae

PEA is also frequently added to fat burners and pre workouts for its euphoria-inducing qualities due to its ability to increase extracellular levels of dopamine (a “feel good” neurotransmitter).[1]

Interestingly, PEA’s molecular mechanism of action differs from other biogenic amines, such as serotonin or dopamine. Researchers believe that PEA binds to the novel G protein-coupled receptor called TAAR (trace amine-associated receptor). This leads in the alteration of the monoamine transporter functions, which results to inhibition of the reuptake of dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine.[1]

This ultimately encourages greater feelings of mood, motivation, energy, and focus.

The “problem” with PEA is that its feel-good effects are extremely short-lived. Animal data indicates that PEA has a half-life between 5-10 minutes.[2]

For this reason, we pair PEA with other ingredients that sustain and enhance the euphoric energy and “feel good vibes.”

Chief among these is NeuroPEA™.

NeuroPEA is a potent extract of eria jarensis which contains a variety of unique alkaloids, including:

  • N-methyl-phenethylamine
  • N-phenethyl dimethylamine,
  • And other PEA-related alkaloids

These PEA relatives can cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and impart longer-lasting increases in energy, mood, and focus, making a formidable 1-2 “punch” for fast-acting and sustained euphoria and stimulation.

Where to Find NeuroPEA?

NeuroPEA is included in our top-rated pre workout, HyperMax-3D, as well as our best-selling feel-good fat burner, OxyMax.

NeuroPEA bolsters the stimulatory and mood-enhancing properties of caffeine and PEA to create a truly exceptional experience, the likes of which are unrivaled (yet frequently emulated).

As we’ve all experienced, there are times of low motivation and energy, particularly in the midst of an aggressive cut, where nothing sounds enticing (least of all an intense workout).

That’s where NeuroPEA really shines. It provides the robust “kick in the pants” you want (“need”) to show up for your workout and put in maximum effort.

Also, don’t forget that PEA also increases levels of dopamine and noradrenaline, which are known to enhance mood, motivation, concentration, and alertness, helping you to stay locked in during and after your workout. Anecdotally, NeuroPEA also imparts a powerful appetite suppressing action, making it a formidable fat-burning ingredient!
